Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo briefly lost consciousness on Sunday when he fell from his bike during a ride with his son.
De Croo, 47 years old, was taken to the hospital after the incident, but tests showed no long-lasting effects.
“Fortunately, I was wearing a helmet and my son called the emergency services,” De Croo said in a video posted on social media. “Sport is good for your health. But sometimes you have to be a little careful.” He also thanked well-wishers for their messages.
On Monday, De Croo is expected to appear before members of parliament to speak for the first time about the release of Olivier Vandecasteele from prison in Iran.
The bike incident is not expected to affect the prime minister’s work schedule, Belga reported.
