Russian presidential election: Putin IV

by host

Vladimir Putin won the presidential election on 18 March in first round with 76,6% of the vote, in the absence of real opponents.

The Russian leader’s re-election coincided with a diplomatic crisis with London following the poisoning attempt of a former Russian spy and his daughter in Salisbury in the south of England, where they live. Theresa May’s government is accusing the Russian secret services of attempted murder.
