Barcelona police shot a man who attacked officers at the Cornellà police station with a knife just before 6 a.m. Monday morning, authorities confirmed on Twitter.

According to local media reports, the assailant was killed.

The motivation behind the attack is being investigated, police said.

A man armed with knife has acceded this morning to Cornellà’s police station with the aim to attack the Police officers. The aggressor has been shot down. The facts happened a few minuts before 6 a.m.
